Herkenrode Abbey

Experience Center: open from Tuesday till Sunday included from 10h to 17h.

Herb and Inspiration Garden: open from 1st February till 31st October, from Tuesday till Sunday included, always from 10h to 17h.

Visitors’ Center with shop: open from Tuesday till Sunday included from 10h to 17h.

Closed: each Monday, the whole month of January (also 1st January), 24, 25 and 31 December

The Domain, the Experience Center and the Herb and Inspiration Garden are largely accessible to wheelchair users. The Visitors’ Reception Desk has got a wheelchair available. Dogs have to be on a leash in the Domain.  

Please note: dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed in the buildings and in the Herb and Inspiration Garden.

Car & Parking
On the E313 (Antwerp-Liège), take exit 27 (Hasselt-West). Follow the N2 in the direction of Herk-de-Stad. Just after Decathlon, turn right. From there, follow the signs to the free car park.

By bike
Herkenrode Abbey is located between junctions 94 and 237 of the Limburg cycle route network that connects the entire region. Rent an electric bike through City-rent. Click here for more info.

By Bus
Stop Herkenrode Brug. The various travel alternatives can be found on the De Lijn website.

By train
Hasselt train station. The various travel alternatives can be found on the SNCB website

The domain is always free to visit. The garden is also freely accessible after registration at the visitor reception. Access to the garden is possible until 5 p.m.
