Beauvoorde Castle is one of the best kept secrets in the Westhoek. The 17th century 'maison de plaisance' is surrounded by a beautiful park. The castle is currently closed for restoration, but keep an eye on the agenda for site visits or activities on the domain. The park and the annexes will remain open during high season. Come and have a picknick or stay over in the B&B.

Nostalgic residence of the excentric Arthur Merghelynck

1875 AD: nobleman Arthur Merghelynck casts his eye on the ruins of a castle in Beauvoorde. The young man is so charmed by the picturesque domain that he decides to restore the 17th century pleasure garden.

Merghelynck is a romantic with no interest in the emergent industry and modernity of the 19h century. He just wants to honour the past. Castle Beauvoorde becomes his project, his home, his nostalgic oasis.
