Discover The Hofkamer through an audio guide

Behind a shadowy gate, tucked away in the back of a hidden garden in the heart of Antwerp, lies The Hofkamer. The affluent eighteenth-century merchant Frans van den Bogaert transformed it into his – what we today might call – man cave.
The Hofkamer is brimming with status symbols: a prestigious golden clock, a unique and peculiar book toilet, and above all, a breathtaking painted ceiling that whisks you away to Mount Olympus.
Enter this hidden Rococo treasure trove. In the audio guide, actor Joren Seldeslachts assumes the role of the owner of this extraordinary showroom. He immerses you into the world of eighteenth-century ostentatiousness.
Enjoy the flowers and greenery within the secluded courtyard nestled in the heart of the city. Adorning the side facade, you'll discover Lies Van Gasse's city poem. Herita’s heritage volunteers will gladly offer you a cup of coffee or tea.

You might have already noticed the distinctive pink puzzle piece in the streets: The Hofkamer is one of six heritage sites in Antwerp featured in the “Flemish Masters in Situ” project by Toerisme Vlaanderen.

Just a year ago, we updated the audio guide with support from Toerisme Vlaanderen. The Hofkamer is part of this project, highlighting the painted ceiling Gods on Mount Olympus as part of the Flemish Masters network campaign. The Flemish Masters left a significant mark on painting in Flanders and Brussels. In The Hofkamer, you can admire a work by a Flemish Master in the original location for which it was created.
